FAQ

What is Alternative Modelling?

Alternative Models do not conform to the mainstream ideas of beauty. They have a personal style that represents subcultures such as Goth, punk, burlesque, latex and fetish. They are perfect to promote niche markets or to portray authentic characters in a production.

What is the agencies intention?

Our motivation is to become the biggest and best alternative modelling agency in the UK,  We want to give alt models the opportunity to be taken seriously in the industry and for companies in the UK to find models that much easier when looking for something authentic with the knowledge of knowing that they will be booking the best in the country.

WEBSITE

All photographs, text, logos and any other information or graphic contained within this website is Copyright © Spirit Models and protected under UK and international law and may not be copied either in whole or in part without the prior written consent of Spirit Models.

Our website is not a public talent directory, if our models have been contacted directly for a booking and the model has abolute knowledge that the client has been dealing with Spirit Model Management on the same booking we will immediately remove the model on the books for grounds of exploitation.  The model also may be fined 20% from their fee as per contract.

Please email bookings@spiritmodels.co.uk for our 2013 Rates sheet.

Can your models work abroad?

Yes our models are available for assignments abroad.

Are your models trained?

Many of our models are trained as actors and performers or have attended model and audition workshops; we strive to make our models the best in their field so therefore are always offering them opportunities to better themselves.

Can you send us Z Cards?

We do not print Z cards as our models change their looks regularly , we have put a mechanism on the site so you can download Z cards on their profiles.

Do you provide Models for the Adult Industry?

No, we do not supply models for pornographic film or photographic work, however we are happy to supply models for exhibitions and events. (E.g. Erotica, The Eto Show)

PHOTOGRAPHERS

My photos are being used by your models in the profiles, why am I not credited?

As we are a modelling agency and not a networking site we do not credit photographers or host links to photographer’s web pages. We ask that all models have permission to use the images and it is stated in both the Model ‘Application Information’ and the model contract that we do not remove watermarks, edit or manipulate images.   If you have any concerns we suggest that you contact the model directly.

Do you charge for using your models for TFP/CD?

We do not charge photographers for using our models for TFP, if you are interested in working with our models on this basis then please email the agency your contact details including full name, address, phone number and any links to your portfolios, please include any professional credits. If we approve of your work we will then send your details to all the models in a bulk email. It will then be up to the models to contact you directly to organise a shoot.

Models are instructed not to sign a release form when doing a test shoot through the agency.

I would like to make a portfolio package offer

We are happy to forward on any information as long as we approve of your photography and we feel that you are offering our models a fair deal.

How do I get onto your ‘Recommended photographers list’ and who is it for?

We no longer provide our models with a recommended photographers list.

MODELS

What kind of work should I expect?

Since being represented by Spirit Model Management, our models have enjoyed working on promotional assignments at corporate events and exhibitions, modelled for clothing companies, featured in television commercials, worked on advertising campaigns, been published in books and magazines and appeared in international hair shows and music videos.

What you get out of your career depends on the work you put into your career.

Can you guarantee me work?

No agency can guarantee a model work but we do not accept models onto our books unless we feel that they have a marketable appeal.

How could you support me?

We prefer our models to have previously worked professionally, we no longer assist models who are non-exclusive with the agency in updating their portfolios.

We do offer the models the opportunity to network at exhibitions and events, (if we feel it will benefit the agency)  attend model and casting workshops and to gain catwalk experience.

I am a complete beginner, how can you help me?

We only accept models who have had previous professional experience, we no longer take on beginners.

There are networking pages were you can get advice from other models and set up shoots with photographers.

To find out more about the industry please take a look at this very informative site- www.albamodel.info

We also recommend that models apply to become a member of the Equity Modelling Union- http://www.equity.org.uk/models/

We are in the process of setting up our own modelling school in Birmingham, to register interest please email: modellingschool@spiritmodels.co.uk

Do you model scout?

No, we no longer scout models.

Do you hold model competitions?

Occasionaly in association with publications or events.

Do you charge fees?

We do not charge upfront/admin/registration fees to join the agency.

Do you offer Portfolio Packages

We are currently arranging portfolio package deals for both models with the agency and aspiring models who are not signed with the agency.

To register your interest please email: modellingschool@spiritmodels.co.uk

Do you charge for Z cards/Polaroid’s/Website Admin

We do not print Z cards as our models change their appearance so often, these can be downloaded off the site by clients. We expect our models to send us their own images for us to represent them.

What do you look for in a model?

Models need to be both experienced and marketable, some of our models may be suitable for music videos and promotions but not editorial or catwalk.  You need to fit into categories such as ‘Character’ or ‘attractive tattooed glamour girl’ for example.

Do I have to get tattooed to work with you?

NO!!! We would never expect or encourage anyone to get tattooed, pierced or dye their hair bright vibrant colours, many of our models adorn no such body modifications at all.

Do I need an ‘alternative’ name?

No, we have been known to ask models to change their alternative names, we cannot put you forward for work in the Commercial Industry if we feel that your name is unacceptable. For example, names that have references to death or are sexual.

Would I have to do nude or topless modelling?

Again, no. We do not expect our models to follow this line of work.

When are your books open?

Our books will open on the 10th of April 2013 for one month only.

I have applied to you but not heard anything back?

We apologise but we cannot guarantee you will hear back from us if you are unsuccessful, we are a very busy agency and need to concentrate on models who are already signed to Spirit or have a lot of potential.

I am very alternative so why wasn’t I accepted for representation?

We have to consider what our clients are looking for, from character models for film and advertising to attractive models for brand promotions and catwalk shows. What the commercial industry looks for in an alternative model can be very different. We wouldn’t want to give anyone false hope.

MEDIA

We are a production company making a Reality show/Documentary and we would like to use your models.

Please give us a call explaining your intentions and email all details to us to pass onto our models, we are very wary of how our models will be portrayed as we would prefer our models to be seen in a positive light. We would be happy to help within reason.

I am a journalist and I would like to do a feature on the agency /one of your models.

Please contact us with your full name, phone number and email address, a full CV, a list of published credits and an outline of the feature.
